(Brownsville, TX) — A South Texas man is heading to death row after his conviction on capital murder charges. A Cameron County jury sentenced Rogelio Martinez to death yesterday after deliberating for several days. Martinez was previously found guilty of capital murder for shooting and killing San Benito Police Lieutenant Milton Resendez in 2023. His lawyers said they will appeal the case to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.
