Marta Kostyuk Extends Clay Winning Streak to 15 Matches to Reach Fourth Round at French Open
Kostyuk extended her clay winning streak to 15 matches and will face four-time champion Iga Swiatek in a rematch of their 2021 meeting.
On Friday at Roland Garros, Ukrainian 15th seed Marta Kostyuk defeated Swiss Viktorija Golubic 6-4, 6-3 to reach the French Open fourth round for the second time.
Four-Time French Open champion Iga Swiatek cruised past fellow Polish player Magda Linette 6-4, 6-4, setting up a fourth-round clash with Kostyuk, whom she previously defeated in Paris in 2021.
Also advancing to the fourth round, Wang Xiyu of China beat Ukrainian Yuliia Starodubtseva 6-3, 7-5, while Russian 11th seed Andrey Rublev defeated Nuno Borges of Portugal in straight sets.
Play began in warm conditions at Roland Garros, with temperatures around 29 degrees Celsius, and Meteo France warns the heat may peak at about 33 degrees.
The tournament continues following top-ranked Jannik Sinner's upset loss yesterday, while three-time champion Novak Djokovic remains in the men's draw facing Brazilian teenager Joao Fonseca.
