Marshall bounces back with 77-61 home win over WKU

- On Wednesday night, Marshall Thundering Herd men's basketball team beat Western Kentucky Hilltoppers men's basketball team 77-61 at the Cam Henderson Center, taking the lead for good with 30 seconds remaining in the first half.
- Using timely runs, Marshall opened with a 7-0 burst, closed the first half on a 7-0 run, and extended control with 10-3, 14-2, and 10-0 sprees.
- Jalen Speer led Marshall with 24 points and five assists, including 11 by halftime, while Matt Van Komen added 12 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks and Landen Joseph had a 10-point, 10-rebound game.
- The defeat dropped WKU to 6-3 and the all-time series to 23-13, after being held to a season-low 61 points.
- Marshall Thundering Herd will carry momentum from this road win as WKU returns home for its final two nonconference games, starting with Campbellsville on Monday, Dec. 15.
