- On Thursday, Mel Schilling, Married at First Sight expert and dating coach, revealed on Instagram that tests showed her cancer had spread to the left side of her brain, confirming a new stage in her illness.
- Her cancer first emerged as colon cancer in December 2023 and metastasised to her lungs by February 2024, according to scans. Her health has since worsened.
- While filming MAFS, she said she underwent 16 rounds of chemotherapy and was told she was eligible for a gene-specific clinical trial due to start in March 2026, but her oncology team said there is nothing further they can do, despite radiotherapy.
- She announced last month that she would step away from MAFS Australia to prioritise family and health, and Channel 4 confirmed John Aiken will step in for the current MAFS UK series.
