The 51-foot Mario balloon celebrates 40 years of Super Mario Bros. and will appear for the first time in the 99th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, organizers confirmed.
- On Thursday, November 27, Mario will appear at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in Manhattan, soaring as a balloon during the NBC and Peacock broadcast.
- Nintendo is marking Mario's anniversary this year with new releases including Mario Galaxy-related releases, Tennis Fever, a new Yoshi game, and a Talking Flower collectible.
- Designed in partnership with Nintendo of America, the Mario balloon emulates a Super Mario Galaxy flying pose and measures 51-feet and 2-inches long, 37-feet wide, and 43-feet and 8-inches tall.
- Executives and parade organizers said the balloon will bring smiles to families and viewers, with Devon Pritchard calling it an honor to the franchise and Jordan Dabby calling it a historic milestone.
- This past September Nintendo announced remakes for the two Super Mario Galaxy games for the Nintendo Switch 2 that released earlier in October, and revealed The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, releasing April 3, 2026 in the US and April 24, 2026 in Japan.
