Man sought by police after making antisemitic threats in London
On Friday, the Metropolitan Police launched an urgent search for a man filmed making antisemitic threats on Whitechapel Road in Tower Hamlets after officers attended the scene following the video's emergence online.
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley previously warned of a growing "pandemic" of antisemitism in London, stating 300 extra police officers were needed across the capital to address rising threats.
The Jewish community volunteer group Shomrim said it is "aware of the horrific video," which showed a man threatening that "Jews gonna get beheaded," and confirmed working closely with police.
Shomrim confirmed it will be stepping up patrols until the suspect is found, while the Metropolitan Police are carrying out urgent inquiries and ask anyone with information to contact them.
These threats follow a series of arson attacks on Jewish sites and a double stabbing in Golders Green; earlier this month, the force announced 100 additional officers would be deployed to protect London's Jewish communities.
