A man was killed at around 5:52pm on Monday, near one of the buildings in the Candelaria residential in Mayagüez. The deceased was identified as José Miguel Mercado Pérez, 34 years old. According to the police report, it was a 9-1-1 call that alerted about an assault, and when the officers arrived at the scene, they ran into the body of Mercado Pérez. Mayagüez’s Criminal Investigation Corps (CIC) Homicide Division investigates.
