Man killed in shooting at Midtown Manhattan subway station: NYPD
Police said the shooting followed a dispute and disrupted service on the B, D and E lines as investigators searched for a person of interest.
A man was fatally shot Saturday afternoon at the Seventh Avenue subway station near 53rd Street in Midtown Manhattan and pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital.
Police reported the shooting followed a dispute between two men that escalated from the platform onto a train and back, with investigators stating the incident was not a random act.
The NYPD released surveillance photos of a suspect who fled north on Seventh Avenue, last seen wearing red pants, a black vest, and a black face mask.
Service disruptions affected subway lines as the station remained closed; MTA Chief Security Officer Michael Kemper said the perpetrator "should face maximum consequences from the justice system."
Authorities continue to investigate the shooting as they search for the suspect; anyone with information is urged to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS .
