Man injured in shooting involving police in NH, AG's office says
The man was taken to a hospital after gunshots were fired during police negotiations, and officials said there was no known threat to the public.
On Wednesday night, a man was injured during an officer-involved shooting in Milton, New Hampshire, following a standoff. Farmington Police Department officers encountered the individual barricaded inside a vehicle on Elm Street.
Responding to the Elm Street address, Farmington Police Department officers found the man armed with what appeared to be a handgun, initiating negotiations before the shooting occurred.
Milton Elementary School and Nute Middle-High School closed Thursday due to road closures and emergency activity, as police urged the public to avoid Elm Street, Route 75, and Dawson Street.
The New Hampshire Attorney General and the New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit are investigating the shooting, with the man remaining hospitalized and his identity currently undisclosed.
With six police-involved shootings in New Hampshire during 2026 according to WMUR, authorities confirm there is no known threat to the public while the investigation proceeds.
