Man in critical condition after robot vacuum explodes in freak accident
The 25-year-old remains in intensive care after suffering burns to about 75% of his body, while investigators test the vacuum and other seized items.
Lachie Perrem, 25, is fighting for life after a robot vacuum exploded in his Brabham home, located about 21km northeast of Perth.
Firefighters believe the explosion resulted from the igniting appliance, with walls blackened by soot as fire spread from the kitchen to the living room.
Perrem was rushed to Fiona Stanley Hospital in critical condition, where his mother Fiona reported he is under sedation with burns to approximately 75 per cent of his body.
His fiancee Bri said the "last few days have been completely unimaginable," while The GoFundMe has raised $18,600 of its $20,000 goal to support recovery.
Lachie faces an extensive road ahead involving multiple surgeries and rehabilitation, as his family hopes for him to heal and eventually return home.
