A dispute between two vehicles escalated into gunfire in a Lowe's parking lot, killing one man and critically injuring three others, including two children, police said.

  • On Saturday, Phoenix Police responded just before 3 p.m. to a shooting at a Lowe's parking lot near 19th Avenue and Baseline Road in south Phoenix.
  • After two vehicles pulled into the lot, a disagreement between occupants escalated into a physical fight involving a white SUV and a sedan, Brian Bower, Phoenix Police spokesman, said.
  • The suspect allegedly fired multiple rounds into the white SUV while three children were in the backseat, and witnesses including Ali Varnado described many shots.
  • Police confirmed the SUV driver was killed and the female passenger hospitalized in critical condition; two children were struck, one extremely critical, one with non-life-threatening injuries, and a third child hospitalized as a precaution.
  • The suspect was hospitalized and is now in custody, and Phoenix Police are asking the public to come forward as investigators continue working the case.
