Police are carrying out extensive enquiries and CCTV checks after Stephen Grzyb fled a prison van and ran from court, officials said.

  • On Saturday, 22-year-old Stephen Grzyb escaped from a prisoner transport van outside Liverpool Magistrates Court at 10am. Police launched an urgent manhunt after he fled on foot upon arrival.
  • Grzyb, a resident of Princess Drive, Liverpool, was being transported from Belle Vale custody suite by contractor GEOAmey. He was scheduled to appear in court facing charges related to a domestic-related burglary.
  • Described as white with short dark hair, Grzyb was last seen wearing a navy T-shirt and navy shorts. He fled down Red Cross Street toward The Strand.
  • Merseyside Police deployed foot patrols and CCTV reviews across Liverpool's city centre to locate Grzyb. Officers also attended the alleged victim's address to ensure their safety during the ongoing search.
  • Temporary Inspector Bethan Hannon warned the public not to assist Grzyb, stating, "He remains on the run." Anyone spotting him should call 999 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111, quoting incident reference 26000615520.
