Man Charged with Murder in February Shooting of OEMC Employee Da'J Flowers
Police arrested Darreon Plummer after a months-long investigation into the February killing of City of Chicago worker Da'J Flowers, officials said.
- On Wednesday, Chicago police and U.S. Marshals arrested Darreon Plummer, 33, of Glen Ellyn, at O'Hare International Airport, charging him with first-degree murder in the February killing of 36-year-old OEMC employee Da'J Flowers.
- Investigators identified Plummer as the suspect following a months-long investigation into the February 5 shooting, where Flowers was found fatally shot inside her West Ridge home on North Bell Avenue.
- Flowers was a senior administrative assistant at the OEMC dedicated to helping others, her brother Demone Flowers said; the family's grief deepened in July when her mother, 53-year-old Surbezz Clark, was fatally shot on South Halsted Street.
- Plummer is scheduled for a detention hearing today, Friday, at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse, having been held in Washington state's Snohomish County jail following his September 1 arrest.
- Demone Flowers expressed determination to seek justice for both victims, stating, "It will be justice for my sister Da'J Flowers. And it will be justice for my mom, Surbezz Clark.
