- On October 28, 2023, Michael Reese, a registered sex offender on probation, killed visiting nurse Joyce Grayson at a halfway house in Willimantic.
- Reese was on electronic monitoring and probation for a prior stabbing and sexual assault, and Grayson went to administer his medication, leading to the fatal incident.
- Police found Grayson's body bound in the basement with blunt force injuries and compression of the neck, and Reese was arrested as he exited the house with some of her belongings.
