XPENG and the Volkswagen Group Announce Entry Into Agreement on Expanding E/E Architecture Technical Collaboration - XPeng (NYSE:XPEV)
XPENG's E/E architecture will be deployed across Volkswagen's electric, hybrid, and combustion engine vehicles in China, enabling faster software updates and cost efficiencies, Volkswagen said.
- Announcing a deepened partnership, XPENG Inc. and Volkswagen Group said that following the July 22, 2024, agreement, they accelerated joint development of the E/E Architecture at 'China Speed' in China.
- Building on last month’s deal, XPENG and Volkswagen deepened collaboration to expand the E/E Architecture across platforms and powertrains, said Mr. Xiaopeng He.
- Notably, the deal delivers three advantages: faster software iteration cycles, streamlined over-the-air update capabilities and shortened vehicle development timelines, while advancing Volkswagen's software-defined vehicle strategy and cost efficiency.
- As a result, XPENG gains significant economies of scale for its technology stack by expanding deployment across Volkswagen's Chinese vehicle lineup.
- Looking ahead, Mr. Xiaopeng He said the expanded technical collaboration is a milestone that underscores mutual trust and highlights ongoing innovation in smart electric vehicle technologies.
