Four Gangsters Killed in Gurugram Encounter; Three Police Personnel Injured
Police said the gang members had held a businessman hostage and opened fire with sophisticated weapons before the encounter left four dead and three officers wounded.
On Thursday, Gurugram Police killed Four associates of Deepak Nandal during an encounter in Sushant Lok, while one gang member was injured; the operation followed a hostage situation at the residence of Vishal Berry, son of the SGT University founder.
Five members of the Nandal gang had allegedly held Vishal Berry hostage at his residence, prompting The Crime Branch to respond after the Police Control Room reported suspicious movements of armed men in a Mahindra Scorpio.
When The Crime Branch teams arrived, the criminals began firing at the house with sophisticated weapons; Three police personnel sustained gunshot wounds in the ensuing exchange, though police successfully rescued Berry and his family.
Forensic Sciences Laboratory teams conducted technical inspections and evidence collection at the scene, while Police stated detailed information regarding criminal identities, records, and seized weapons will be shared separately after verification and investigation.
The businessman had been receiving repeated ransom messages from a wanted gangster based abroad, and authorities are currently investigating the gang's background with the injured suspect admitted to a hospital for treatment.
