Publix recalls baby food for potential lead contamination
- On May 9, 2025, Publix voluntarily pulled its GreenWise baby food containing pear, kiwi, spinach, and pea from shelves across the eight states it serves after tests indicated possible lead contamination.
- The recall came after routine testing identified potential elevated lead levels, and Publix informed federal food safety authorities prior to voluntarily removing the product.
- The affected product is a 4-ounce plastic pouch made by Bowman Andros LLC, distributed in 1,404 stores located in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
- Maria Brous, Publix’s Director of Communications, confirmed that all items suspected of contamination have been pulled from the shelves as a precaution to ensure customer safety.
- There have been no reported illnesses to date, and consumers may return the recalled pouches with a Best If Used By date of November 1, 2025, for a full refund.
