Magnús Karl and Silja Bára remain rectors

Magnús Karl Magnússon received the most votes in the rector election at the University of Iceland, 33.6%. Seven candidates were running. Since no one received a majority of the votes, a second round will be held between the two candidates who received the most votes; Magnús and Silja Bára Ómarsdóttir who received 29.3% of the votes. Professor Magnús Karl Magnússon at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Iceland and Silja Bára Ómarsdóttir, professor at the Faculty of Political Studies of the University of Iceland, received the most votes in the rectorship of the University of Iceland today. Since neither of them received a majority of the vote, another vote will take place the following week.
