Madison County Has 58% Voter Turnout for 2026 General Election
The Oklahoma State Election Board reported 45% statewide turnout as voters rejected ballot measures concerning judicial appointments and property tax growth.
Just over 45% of Oklahoma's 2.46 million registered voters participated in Tuesday's general election, the Oklahoma State Election Board reported. Turnout declined from 2022, when slightly more than 50% of voters cast ballots.
Oklahoma's 1.3 million registered Republicans outnumber the 627,500 Democrats by nearly 2-to-1, according to Election Board data released this month. Participation fell short of the 2024 general election, which drew more than 64% of registered voters.
Republican Mike Mazzei won the gubernatorial race with 52% of the vote, defeating Democrat Cyndi Munson, who carried 45%. About 1.11 million voters cast ballots in this statewide contest.
One million Oklahomans voted on State Questions 845 and 847 on Tuesday, rejecting both measures. The rejection means proposed changes to the judicial nominating commission and property tax assessment limits will not take effect.
In York County, 5,485 ballots were cast, resulting in a 59.45% turnout rate, according to York County Clerk Mary Melby. The number of early voters was particularly impressive compared to past years, she noted.
