Maastricht’s Malberg is risk area after youths set off fireworks, intimidate residents

The Malberg neighborhood in Maastricht will remain a designated safety risk area for the next six weeks because of disturbances caused by a group of young people. The city imposed the measure to prevent further disorder and to enable rapid, appropriate response when needed.Authorities first applied the designation after trouble on Wednesday evening. On Friday, the municipality, in consultation with police, extended it by six weeks.
