Luckin Coffee Takes Shot At Starbucks With Flagship And Costa ...
Luckin Coffee's 30,000th store in Shenzhen features premium global coffee origins and aims to compete with Starbucks Reserve by elevating quality and expanding its supply chain.
Luckin Coffee opened its two-floor Origin Flagship in Shenzhen on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2026, marking its 30,000th store, the company said.
Luckin Coffee's strategic pivot shifts from budget-priced kiosks to a premium Global Origins strategy to enhance professionalism, quality, and integrate a global supply chain, the company said.
Featuring LEED Platinum and Zero Carbon Space standards, the Luckin Origin Lab debuted high-end semi-automatic machines since its Jan. 20 soft launch, attracting waits of 1 to 3 hours.
The opening reinforces Luckin's national footprint, positioning it to directly challenge Starbucks Reserve in China's premium coffee segment as diplomatic representatives and executives underscored global sourcing ties.
The company expects to close a spring deal to sell 60% of its China business to Boyu Capital while retaining a 40% stake, supported by $1.55 billion revenue and 118 overseas stores as of Q3 2025.
