HGTV Host, Head of Content Dies Following Battle with Pneumonia
Loren Ruch, head of content for HGTV and co-host of HGTV House Party, died on June 12, 2025, at age 55 in Los Angeles.
He passed away after bravely fighting acute myeloid leukemia, a condition he had been contending with for an extended period.
Ruch had a career spanning over 30 years, including leadership at HGTV since 2008, becoming head of content in January 2023, and winning five Emmy Awards while at Fox's Good Day LA.
Warner Bros. Television Group chair Channing Dungey called Ruch a rare leader who "lifted everyone around him," while Christina Haack said, "Everyone adored you" on Instagram.
Ruch’s death leaves a lasting imprint on the television industry and colleagues, highlighting his dedication, mentorship, and close relationships within the business.
