Locals in college sports: Area athletes venture far to play in college

Many Tri-State athletes stay close to home to play in college. Some, though, venture away from the region to find success. Following is a look at six who played this past school year: MEKHI BARLOW, Huntington HS, Brooklyn men's basketball. A 6-ffot-7 senior forward, Barlow played in 19 games, starting seven. He averaged 5.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocked shots a game, making 36.4% of his shots and 57.1% of his free throws.
