Ahead of the 41st anniversary on August 12th of the 1985 Japan Airlines jumbo jet crash that killed 520 people, approximately 30 students and faculty members from three schools, including the local Ueno Junior High School and the neighboring Manba High School in Kanna Town, Gunma Prefecture, gathered on July 31st at the site, "Mount Osutaka Ridge" (Ueno Village, Gunma Prefecture), to pay their respects to the victims.
