Liverpool Sporting Director Hughes Leaves Role

On Saturday, Liverpool confirmed that sporting director Richard Hughes has stepped down after just over two years in the role, following the conclusion of the summer transfer window.
Hughes decided to leave earlier this year but agreed to remain through the transfer window; he is now expected to join Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal, reuniting with former Bournemouth colleague Simon Francis.
During his tenure, Hughes oversaw around £670m in total transfer spending, including the arrivals of Bradley Barcola for £117m and Alexander Isak for a British record £125m.
Fenway Sports Group President Mike Gordon praised Hughes' leadership during a critical period, stating the club has begun its search for a successor to fill the role.
Senior staff including Julian Ward, Pedro Marques, David Woodfine, and Barry Hunter will cover Hughes' duties under Gordon's oversight, supporting head coach Arne Slot during the transition.
