Asteroids have been named after two Lithuanian geographical features – Nida and the Šventoji River. They were discovered and named by astronomers Dr. Kazimieras Černis and Edvardas Černis of the Institute of Theoretical Physics and Astronomy of the Faculty of Physics of Vilnius University (VU) and their colleague from Latvia Dr. Ilgmārs Eglītis, according to a VU press release.
