The majority of members of the publishing house's international list announced their departure this Monday, in reaction to the dismissal of former CEO Olivier Nora, attributed to Bolloré. In France, about 200 people had taken the same decision in mid-April.
"We refuse to allow our work to be used for political purposes that we do not share", wrote these writers in a text that must be published in several media abroad.
The crisis at Grasset simmers after Olivier Nora's departure. Foreign authors, including several prestigious winners, now refuse to publish there, denouncing an infringement of editorial independence.
They thus made the same decision as some 200 French authors who announced in mid-April their refusal to publish new books at Grasset to denounce Olivier Nora's "dismissal".
The majority of Grasset's foreign authors announce in a text published on Monday 11 May that they will no longer offer their books to the publisher. This mobilisation follows the dismissal of CEO Olivier Nora, for whom they hold Vincent Bolloré, reference shareholder of Hachette, the parent company of Grasset.
