Lincoln Police Give Update on Search for Regina Bos
Police are removing part of a basement floor after a tip and new lead pointed to possible remains in the 26-year-old missing-person case.
On Thursday, the Lincoln Police Department and Nebraska State Patrol began excavating a basement at 6745 Burlington Ave. in Havelock, searching for remains connected to Regina Bos's disappearance.
Bos, then 40, left an open mic night at Duggan's Pub on Oct. 17, 2000, and was never seen again. Her case remains the Lincoln Police Department's oldest unsolved missing persons investigation.
Police received a tip three months ago that the home's deceased previous owner had connections to Bos and Duggan's Pub. Investigators are working with a University of Nebraska anthropologist to identify any potential remains.
LPD officer Brian Agnew said crews are carefully preserving evidence while searching the small basement room. Preliminary tests conducted months ago were inconclusive, and current excavation results remain unknown.
The search in Havelock is expected to wrap up by Friday evening. Any recovered remains will be sent to a laboratory for DNA testing, a process that could take weeks.
