The US Forest Service announced the temporary closure of several recreational areas and trails in the Smokey Bear District of Lincoln National Forest due to the high flood risk associated with the monsoon season of 2026. Authorities reported that the affected areas continue to be vulnerable to sudden flooding and other storm-related hazards, so they will remain closed from June 2 to September 30, 2026, unless the order is lifted earlier.
