‘Like a giant oven:’ Christmas Eve fire kills 1 in Merritt Island

It’s a tragic Christmas in a Brevard County community.Firefighters in north Merritt Island said a person died on Christmas Eve in a mobile home fire on Whaley Road.“You know how most houses have drywall, or trailers,” neighbor Todd Brown told Merritt Island Community Correspondent James Sparvero. “They got freaking plywood.
