Lightning sparks multiple fires in Bitterroot National Forest

RAVALLI COUNTY, Mont. – Officials from Bitterroot National Forest (BNF) reported more than six fires igniting across the southern end of the forest, which they believe were started by the lightning strikes during thunderstorms in the area on Saturday afternoon.

Lightning has sparked six new fires across the southern side of the Bitterroot National Forest near Missoula, according to Discover Bitterroot National Forest's Facebook page.The fires, located in the Darby-Sula and West Fork Ranger Districts, are all small and under five acres.Firefighters are on scene working to suppress them.
