Liberal Democrat MP Cameron Thomas arrested and suspended from party
The party also suspended his membership as Gloucestershire Police investigate his arrest, with no details of the alleged offence made public.
Following his arrest on Wednesday night, the Liberal Democrats suspended the party whip and membership of Tewkesbury MP Cameron Thomas, it is understood.
Thomas served a 23-year career in the Royal Air Force before his 2024 election, with deployments to Iraq, the Falklands, and Oman.
Earlier in his tenure, Thomas traveled to Kyiv to deliver aid, resulting in his inclusion on a Russian stop list, and criticized Elon Musk's "nostalgia for white supremacy."
A party spokesperson stated, "We are unable to comment further while the police investigation is ongoing," confirming the suspension remains pending.
Gloucestershire Police have released no information regarding the specific reasons for the arrest, as the investigation into the MP's conduct continues.
