‘Let’s just go to flag football’: Micah Parsons, Tom Brady rip refs for questionable roughing the passer call
Tom Brady and Micah Parsons said the roughing call was not enough for 15 yards, and it helped set up Detroit’s winning field goal.
On Sunday, October 25, FOX broadcaster Tom Brady criticized officiating during the Green Bay Packers' 20-17 loss to the Detroit Lions, calling a roughing the passer penalty against defender Karl Brooks "definitely not roughing the passer."
The controversial penalty occurred when Brooks hit Lions quarterback Jared Goff, adding 15 yards to the play and moving Detroit into field goal range late in the fourth quarter.
Packers linebacker Micah Parsons criticized the officiating on X, posting that the league should "go to flag football if everytime a qb gets touched its roughing the passer." Fox rules analyst Dean Blandino agreed, calling the hit a "teach-tape tackle."
As a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, Brady is subject to NFL regulations prohibiting public criticism of officials, potentially exposing him to a $500,000 fine for first-time violations.
The incident reflects broader frustration with NFL officiating, as the number of flags thrown this year has drawn widespread criticism for impacting both game flow and outcomes.
