Less Use for Mountain Rescuers Due to Moderate Summer Weather

As Hans Ebner, head of the Alpine police, said in front of journalists in Vienna on Wednesday, in cool and rainy July, the number of operations decreased by around 30 percent compared to previous years. This is also reflected in the accidents: since 1 November 2024, there were 238 deaths in the local mountains until 16 September 2025. From 1 November 2023 to 16 September 2024, there were 283.
