Switzerland allows the sale of dozens of Leopard 1 tanks to Germany. However, a transfer to Ukraine is excluded. The deal is also a consequence of an arms scandal.

EADaily, May 28th, 2025. The Swiss Federal Council approved the sale of 71 Leopard 1 tanks to Germany, but the condition of the deal is a ban on further transfer of equipment to the Kiev regime, Focus magazine writes.

But the tanks must not be passed on to Ukraine. That is what the Federal Council has decided.

The Swiss Federal Government has authorized Ruag MRO Holding to sell 71 Leopard 1 A5 battle tanks to Germany. At the same time, Switzerland banned their re-export to Ukraine.

The Federal Council has decided that the Ruag can sell Leopard 1 combat tanks stored in Italy to Germany. However, there is a Ukraine exclusion clause.

The defence company Ruag MRO is allowed to sell 71 Leopard 1 battle tanks to Germany. However, the tanks may not be sold to Ukraine.
