ROME.- On the day of the 34th anniversary of Ukraine's independence from the former Soviet Union - on 24 August 1991 - Pope Leo XIV sent a letter to the Ukrainian President, Volodymir Zelensky, in which he made his position clear and called again for the continuation of the ongoing negotiations and for weapons to be put to rest.
