- Following his retirement, Brooks, legendary boxing trainer, died after a battle with a 'very aggressive' cancer, Lou DiBella announced on social media on Tuesday night.
- After winning the 1975 National AAU Middleweight title, Tommy Brooks guided Holyfield to two victories over Tyson in 1996 and 1997, and led Tyson to six knockouts between 1998 and 2001.
