Lebanese President Joseph Aoun called on the UN Security Council, on the sidelines of a delegation's visit to the country, to pressure Israel to respect a year-long ceasefire. At the same time, Aoun asked the UN Security Council, currently chaired by Slovenia, to support the Lebanese army's efforts to disarm the Shiite movement Hezbollah.
