Delta Adds LAX-Manila Route as the Battle for West Coast and Asia Heats Up

Delta will start the route with 3 weekly flights before moving to daily service, using Airbus A350-900 jets.

  • Delta Air Lines will launch its first-ever nonstop service between Los Angeles International Airport and Manila on March 28, 2027, becoming the only U.S. airline flying directly between the two cities.
  • Jeff Arinder, Delta's Vice President of Network Planning, called Manila a "natural addition" to the network, aligning with Delta's strategy to establish Los Angeles as its premier West Coast gateway for trans-Pacific travel.
  • The 7,305-mile route will operate on an Airbus A350-900, initially flying three times weekly before expanding to daily flights beginning June 7, 2027, with Delta One flat-bed seating.
  • This new route places Delta in direct competition with Philippine Airlines, the country's flag carrier and current sole operator of direct flights, while United Airlines continues serving the market via San Francisco connections.
  • Delta plans to leverage its joint venture with Korean Air, offering travelers the option of flying nonstop or connecting through Seoul's Incheon Airport as it expands its Asia-Pacific network.
