Lawyer Says Prosecutors Haven't Offered Details of Teen's Alleged Ties to San Diego Mosque Shooters
Her lawyer says prosecutors have not detailed the alleged communications or livestream agreement tied to the deadly mosque attack.
- Attorney Alan Doorasamy filed a "bill of particulars" on Friday requesting details about charges against Sarah Santiago, a North Carolina teen accused of aiding the San Diego Islamic Center attack.
- Cain Clark and Caleb Vazquez killed three people, including security guard Amin Abdullah, at the Islamic Center on May 18 before taking their own lives. They cited the Christchurch shooting in New Zealand as a model for their violence.
- Prosecutors allege Santiago agreed to record and distribute the livestream and white-supremacist writings from the shooters. She is also accused of purchasing a white-supremacist patch bearing a symbol for one gunman to wear during the attack.
- Santiago is charged as an adult with three counts of murder by aiding and abetting and one count of conspiracy. She is held without bail pending a hearing Wednesday on Doorasamy's motion for clarification.
- Authorities said Cain Clark and Caleb Vazquez planned subsequent attacks on a Jewish temple and Black students at a high school. Their families noted exposure to hateful online rhetoric and personal struggles contributed to their radicalization.
