Late-night tragedy in Bodakdev highrise: Congress MP’s nephew ‘accidentally’ shoots wife, ends his life in Ahmedabad
- On Thursday, Ahmedabad police said government employee Yashrajsinh Durgeshsinh Gohil allegedly shot his wife Rajeshwari between 11:30 pm and 12 am Wednesday in apartment 502, NRI Tower, Judges Bungalow Road.
- After returning from dinner, police said Yashrajsinh was checking his licensed revolver when a bullet accidentally fired and hit his wife Rajeshwari as they prepared to travel abroad.
- A GVK-EMRI 108 ambulance reached the flat, the Emergency Medical Technician found the woman without a pulse, and police arrived around 12 am before sending bodies to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital.
- Police registered an accidental death report at Vastrapur police station and seized the licensed revolver, which was sent for forensic tests; the couple was cremated in Limda, Bhavnagar with Congress MP Shaktisinh Gohil present, who was `in a state of shock`, Doshi said.
- Yashrajsinh Durgeshsinh Gohil, 30, had recently joined the Gujarat Maritime Board as an officer, married Rajeshwari about two months ago, and was preparing for UPSC while keeping a revolver and liking fast cars.
