The exercise 'Aurora 2026', which aims to train defensive capabilities based on new operational plans, will last for two weeks and will involve troops from various countries.
18,000 soldiers from eleven countries are gathering in Sweden. The year's largest military exercise, Aurora 26, begins on Monday. "Now we are practicing the defense of the alliance," says exercise leader Jonas Wikström.
Exercise Aurora 26 brings together experts from Ukraine to train Swedish soldiers in advanced drone combat and strengthen NATO's defense.
Military columns, aircraft and ships can be seen in parts of the country when Aurora 26 starts on Monday. Traffic may be affected in particular in southern Sweden and on Gotland.
Some 18,000 military personnel from 12 NATO and Ukraine began today in Sweden the largest military exercise of the year, which will simulate a serious and unexpected military threat from the east.
