A landslide struck Shidaguan village in Diexi Town, Mao County, in China's southwestern province of Sichuan on Wednesday, but no casualties were reported. An unstable slope was identified ahead of the incident and 161 residents in harm's way were evacuated by late last month.
An estimated 800,000 cubic meters of earth and rocks collapsed down a mountainside in Sichuan province, China, blocking a section of the Minjiang River and National Highway 213. Despite the shocking images from the scene, authorities said the landslide caused no casualties because residents and workers in the danger zone had been evacuated beforehand.
