Most of Moravia is at risk of thunderstorms on Sunday evening and Monday night, experts from the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) warn. They are expected in the southeastern part of the Czech Republic, and in Moravia they may be exceptionally strong. They are expected to move from the southwest and weaken during the night.

On Monday, severe thunderstorms are expected across the country, with orange and yellow warnings issued by HungaroMet for several counties. The storms may be accompanied by gale force winds, hail, downpours and heat, with peak temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius expected in the eastern part of the country. According to the forecast, cloud cover will increase again from the west on Tuesday.
A cold front will advance into our region from the west, associated with a low pressure area centered over southern Scandinavia. Later, it will begin to swell in the Carpathian region.
