A 66-year-old Lafayette man is dead after a northbound truck veered off the Evangeline Thruway, jumped onto the sidewalk, and struck him early Monday morning, before crossing back over the road and slamming into several utility poles. Wilbert Davis was pronounced dead at the scene, and the truck's driver suffered only minor injuries in the crash.
