The insurance market in Romania, composed of 39 insurance companies, of which 25 are companies authorised by the ASF and 14 branches, is actually based on 83% of the first ten largest insurance companies, the other 29 companies are controlled by only 17% of the market, according to the data published by the representatives of the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) in the most recent report on the stability of non-banking financial markets.
