Beale recalled to Wallabies in huge World Cup pointer
The 37-year-old veteran returns after Hunter Paisami withdrew for personal reasons, giving coach Les Kiss a proven 95-Test option ahead of the UK tour.
On Wednesday, Wallabies coach Les Kiss recalled veteran Kurtley Beale for next month's UK tour, replacing Hunter Paisami. The 37-year-old returns after five years, bringing 95 caps of Test experience.
Paisami withdrew from the squad this week for personal reasons after relocating to Japan to join the Shizuoka Blu Revs. Beale answered an SOS call from Kiss to join the touring group for three Tests against England, Scotland and Wales.
Hours before the recall, Beale extended his contract with the Western Force on a train-and-trial deal for the 2027 season. Kiss praised Beale as a "super versatile talent" capable of playing multiple positions across the backline.
Australia currently ranks 7th globally after losing the Bledisloe Cup for a 23rd straight year this month. Kiss intends to use Beale to end the team's "revolving door of flawed five-eighths."
The recall serves as a massive development ahead of next year's Rugby World Cup in Australia. Before that tournament, the team competes in the inaugural Nations Championship finals in the UK from November 21-23.
