Kumamoto District Court Also Installs Screens at Courtroom Entrances to Conceal Handcuffs and Waist Ropes, Showing Consideration for the Human Rights of Defendants in Criminal Trials

In order to prevent spectators from seeing defendants entering the courtroom while still handcuffed or restrained during criminal trials, the Kumamoto District Court began installing screens in courtrooms in April. Following a notice from the Supreme Court calling for a change in previous practices, the installation of screens is progressing in courts nationwide.
