Due to the persistence of exceptional hydrological and meteorological conditions on the Sava River, the NEK will begin gradually reducing the reactor's power on Thursday night. In the first step, it will reduce production to 80 percent of nominal power.

The government has declared a lower risk level for energy supply due to the heat wave and low flow of the Sava River. It has ordered the Krško Nuclear Power Plant (NEK) to operate at minimum power between August 6 and 12, while respecting all safety standards. There is no shortage of electricity, but problems could arise due to excessive voltage in the transmission network.
The only Slovenian nuclear power plant, located in Krsko, will reduce electricity production to 80% of its capacity.
