Kraken shed light on internal audit, hope to improve after disappointing season
The report will review Seattle’s five-year history and suggest changes after the team scored the fewest goals and missed the playoffs again.
- On Wednesday, Kraken CEO Tod Leiweke announced a proposed internal audit for Seattle after the franchise missed the playoffs for a third consecutive year.
- Leiweke, who previously managed the Seahawks and Tampa Bay Lightning, said obtaining fresh perspectives is essential: "Occasionally, periodically, getting fresh perspectives is super helpful, and that's what we're going to do."
- Coach Lane Lambert noted the team struggled with confidence, while the Kraken power play converted at 19.5% this season and the team scored the fewest goals, with no player finishing more than 55 points.
- Jason Botterill remains the sole decision-maker following Ron Francis stepping down as president of hockey operations; Leiweke said of Botterill, "He's not threatened by it, he's encouraging it."
- The Kraken are projected to have more than $29 million in cap space this summer and hold four first-round picks over the next two drafts to reinforce the roster.
